Going through the interview process can be a nerve racking and sometimes frustrating time. As the candidate, you spend a lot of effort creating your CV, investigating agencies that specialise in your field and then prepping for interview – all in between the day job! You want to be well supported! At Remit, we recognise that this process is an intense and time consuming one. As well as helping you to make sure you are ready to start looking for the next job, we also know it’s important to manage your expectations when helping you to find the next job. Here’s what we know is vital to a successful recruitment process:
Everyone has different communication requirements. Some people like information to be quick and concise, others like to understand more detail. We also recognise that there will only be certain times you can talk – we’ll stick to these unless something urgent comes up and agree with you the communication route for this. There is no one size fits all, so once we understand you, we will make sure that we share the right level of information with you at agreed stages of the process. Either on a call, text, email, we will always ask if you have everything you need, if what we have explained is clear (what we have told you and actions you need to take) and if you have any other questions. We’ll always share recommendations with you throughout the process – unless we work with you to best prepare you for the interview, we haven’t done our job.
There is nothing more frustrating that expecting a call or email and then hearing nothing – especially when you are at the last hurdle of the potential job offer. Sometimes a client won’t be able to confirm exactly when they planned to and this is not something we can control. However, we will be in touch at the time we promised to provide an update and let you know that we will be contacting you as soon as we have further information and the likely time scale.
We’re a big enough agency, that if you can’t speak immediately with your main point of contact, you will have access to the rest of the team that all work closely together. We are all IT recruiters, that is all that we do, so any of the team will understand your job and skills. We believe in building relationships which is why we will often opt for speaking with you over the phone to get to know you a bit more. This also enables us to understand you better (outside of what is on your CV) and share your best attributes with our clients when pitching you for a role. Equally, we are on the end of a phone if you want to speak to any of us. As well as working with you during the interview process and taking time to feedback and answer any of your questions, we also know it’s important to work with you from the start to make sure your skills and CV are well represented. We get to know you and understand any stages that you are nervous about to help prep you for those. Whether you are a graduate, been in your current job for a long time or just looking for that next role for your career, an interview with your peers can be verve racking and it’s important to plan for all types of questions and how to best manage questions when you can’t think of an answer.
We know there is some feedback that no one wants to hear, but unless we discuss this with you, you will never be best prepared for the next interview or the next role – we’d be setting you up to fail. However, we do believe in being constructive and there is always a best way to explain a situation, support you and best manage your expectations. We can then work with you to plan a route
We’re not time wasters – that doesn’t work for you, our clients or us! As well as this, if we keep sending you for interviews at companies that we know you are not suited or skilled for, we’ll only be knocking your confidence every time you come away from the interview with another knock back.
We know that for each job, there is a right candidate and it’s about finding that great mix. As well as the job, we know it’s about the environment you work in, the package, your boss and the team around you. There is always going to be some settling in to a new job, but within no time, you will be forging great new relationships, doing a job you enjoy and excelling in your new role. With this way of working, we’ll be sending you in for the best suited roles and focus on the quality of this process and not fill your diary with quantity! Ensuring this standard means we get happy candidates and happy clients, keeping us happy too!
